Emerald Explorers Photoclub Exhibition

Emerald Explorers at Parkhead

Digital Voice
Gateshead Arts Team's Emerald Explorers programme began in 2022 as a response to coming out of the Covid19 pandemic. During that time, we noticed how important being outside in nature was for our mental and physical wellbeing. Over the last three years, Emerald Explorers has involved hundreds of pupils from schools across Gateshead to be inspired by nature and explore their creativity. Families have loaned Emerald Explorers backpacks for outdoor adventures from their local libraries and adults have taken part in creative wellbeing walks and art workshops, using the four seasons to spark their own creativity.

Digital Voice have been running a photo club for families with children who have SEND this year and this month, their brilliant work will be exhibited at Gateshead's Civic Centre.

The exhibition showcases how much the young people have been inspired by the great outdoors and how much they'be enjoyed getting out and about to locations across Gateshead. From the Shipley to the Staithes, Whickham Community Garden to Saltwell Park, plus Baltic and Gibside, they've captured just how beautiful the borough is.

The exhibition is open from 13th October and will run for three weeks. You'll find it on the ground floor of the Civic Centre as you approach Bewick's Cafe.
