Creative Sessions with Bahraini Artist
Bahraini artist Sara Qaed led a series of comic workshops with Year 8 students at Heworth Grange
Sara Qaed, an artist from Bahrain currently based in the UK, recently visited Heworth Grange to lead a series of art workshops with a group of Year 8 students. The workshops were inspired by the picture book Don't Cross the Line! by Bernardo P. Carvalho and Isabel Minhos Martins.
Over the course of four sessions, Sara introduced students to her work and guided them in creating their own comics, encouraging them to explore a range of animation and artistic styles.
Sara's art practice spans editorial caricatures, comics, illustrations, wearable pieces, and more. Her daily caricatures address themes such as refugees, women's rights, corruption, power, human existence, and social contradictions. Her passion for caricature as a visual language led her to experiment with different methods and materials to present this kind of art.
