Digital services information for schools:  

We offer a wide range of fun and engaging creative digital workshops. Workshops are suitable for year groups in KS2 and KS3 and can be delivered in our new Gateshead Libraries MakerPlace.    

MakerPlace is a creative setting which has purpose-built workshop area with access to digital equipment such as a laser cutter, 3D printers, vinyl cutting machines and much more. We also deliver interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Maths), coding, and physical computing activities. As well as sessions in the MakerPlace, we can offer some workshops and activities as outreach to your school, some activities require access to Wi-Fi and electrical points.   

Workshops can be tailored to curriculum requirements or delivered as longer projects if desired.  

The following are some example workshops.   

  • Various themed interactive STEAM and coding activities with the BBC Microbit or Makey Makey.   
    Maximum number of participants per session: 30    
    Session duration: 2hrs   
  • Create a personalised design using Canva which can be sublimation printed and heat pressed onto a fabric or ceramic item for the participants to take home.    
    Session duration: 2hrs   
    Maximum number of participants per session: 15  

If your class sizes exceed the stated numbers, please let us know and we will attempt to accommodate.

Digital services information for community groups:  

We offer a wide range of creative digital workshops and activities for various age groups, interests and abilities for community groups in Gateshead which can be delivered in our new  MakerPlace.    

Some examples of community groups we have worked with include: 

  • Gateshead Scouts and Guides groups participated in fun and interactive STEAM and Coding workshops and have been supported to achieve digital badges through tailored sessions to meet the requirements.     

  • Local youth groups took part in various activities including designs with 3D pens and using design software to create personalised laser engraved wooden keyrings.

The community group members must be aged 7+ and your group must meet in Gateshead.
