Bringing Words to Life

Gateshead Cultural Education Partnership , 28 March 2025 15:40

Bringing Words to Life (BWTL) is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), founded and run by Melanie Cornish in 2013.

Bringing Words to Life is dedicated to improving literacy levels throughout the Northeast, recognising that individuals of all ages require targeted assistance - particularly in the North East as currently, 23.1% of North East adults have literacy skills below those expected of an 11-year-old (Gandhi, 2025).

Their mission is to go beyond the literacy taught in the classroom and to empower people to find their voices through the written word. With basic reading, writing and communication skills playing an essential role in both working and everyday life, learning to love writing and to write with a purpose allows people to lead richer, happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives.

The charity works all over the North East and has an office in Rowlands Gill, Gateshead.
