About the artist

Sheryl is a North East based animator and participatory artist. Her artistic practice includes arts residencies and independent animated work, development of online educational resources, moving image content for theatre and television, commercial film work, and community projects. Sheryl has delivered projects in a variety of locations including schools, communities, museums and outdoor spaces.

Sheryl uses animation to explore various themes and topics. Workshops include practical activities covering a variety of animation techniques - drawn, cut out and model, plus story writing, storyboarding, character design, script/soundtrack, creation of artwork, model-making and editing.

Sheryl is currently working with Sunderland Culture and the National Theatre as part of the Speak Up project which involves Yr 7 - Yr 10 students using animation to develop work around issues and themes. Sheryl has been working on an animated film with Parkview School, Yr 10 students and Changing Relations. Sheryl recently completed a series of family animation sessions with Helix Arts and currently works with SEN groups at Arts Centre Washington exploring a variety of topics.
