Children at South Street Primary at MakerPlace
Gateshead Library MakerPlace welcome Year 5 and Year 6 students from South Street Primary School weekly during term times. This is part of an ongoing project called the lunch time maker club which began after the Year 5 class visited MakerPlace for a class coding workshop in July 2024.

The teachers at South Street Primary were enthused by the digital maker equipment and workshop space, MakerPlace at Gateshead Central Library and wanted more students to be able to attend to create their own personalised designs. So far, we have had 6 groups into the MakerPlace for a total of 60 students who have created personalised notebooks, t-shirts, bags, mugs, and moneyboxes.
